Artwork
Painted by Wu Changyi, this oil painting employs a realistic style, with the artist using exceptionally fine brushstrokes to capture intricate details. Through careful observation of objects and food, Wu masterfully recreates the textures and materials, giving the composition depth and richness. The overall tone of the piece is deep, with low saturation and a muted color palette that evokes a sense of timelessness. The painting successfully conveys a sense of tranquility and harmony, with the everyday objects in the scene brimming with a subtle sense of life.
The artist skillfully utilizes light and shadow, focusing on reflective objects like the kettle, cup, metalware, and eggs. The handling of highlights and reflections is meticulous, adding a layer of realism and enhancing the sense of space and dimension. The elegant curves of the teapot, the sharp edges of the pan, and the unique textures of the eggs and bread are all vividly rendered. This detailed approach brings out the purity and beauty in ordinary household items and food, evoking a strong sense of life in its most simple and authentic form.
