Artwork
In this oil painting by Qin Hua, the artist adopts a realistic approach to capture the current state of the pomegranate. Rather than relying on minute brushstrokes or intricate lines, the artist opts for a more block-like technique, creating a textured and raw depiction of the fruit’s natural, unsmooth surface. This choice brings out the organic quality of the pomegranate’s skin, enhancing the painting’s tension and fluidity. The contours of the pomegranate are vividly outlined, adding a sense of dynamic beauty to the composition.
Qin Hua skillfully employs lighting effects to enhance the pomegranate’s three-dimensionality, making it appear as though it leaps off the canvas. The color treatment in the painting is especially striking, with the vibrant reds and yellows of the pomegranate standing out sharply against the pure black background, heightening the visual impact and drawing focus to the fruit. The artist subtly incorporates cooler tones within the warm colors of the pomegranate, enriching the contrast between warm and cool hues. This thoughtful blending of colors adds layers of depth and realism, making the pomegranate both inviting and lifelike.
