Artwork
This painting, titled "Playing Music in Flight: Luan Dance," is part of Wang Chenghao's renowned "Flying Deity" series, which stands as one of the artist’s signature collections. The artwork primarily depicts a celestial goddess in mid-air, gracefully playing a flute, with flowing ribbons adding to the scene's ethereal beauty. The goddess’s form draws inspiration from the Dunhuang murals, specifically referencing the celestial figures playing the pipa and flute.
Wang Chenghao uses ink and cyan tones to enhance the sense of lightness and fluidity in the composition. The goddess is portrayed with her upper body bare, wearing only a greenish-blue silk scarf around her waist, which flutters naturally in the wind, adding a dynamic and lively touch. In the lower right corner, the artist has inscribed the title "Luan Dance" and stamped his seal, giving the piece an ancient charm and distinguishing it from other works in the series. This painting not only showcases Wang Chenghao's artistic skill but also his ability to blend traditional elements with a unique, modern aesthetic.
