Born in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province in 1963, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Nanjing University of the Arts in 1989, majoring in Chinese painting, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Master's degree, and a Doctorate degree successively.
